why ¿A qué suena Grey Days? por HEADQUARTER
Grey Days is New Balance's annual celebration of gray, the color that began as a practical decision and became one of the brand's most recognizable identities. For this edition, New Balance and HEADQUARTER asked themselves: if Grey Days had a sound, what would it be? The result is this selection—trip-hop, electronic, soul, indie—that translates that essence into something you can listen to deeply. An hour of music to understand what gray is made of.
curated by HEADQUARTER Store
Founded by Ricardo Campa more than twenty years ago, HEADQUARTER is one of the first platforms in Mexico dedicated to reading the street as culture. Ricardo learned the trade in the tianguis of La Lagunilla and El Chopo, when the city’s fashion was being cooked up there. From that sidewalk school, he keeps the essential lesson: curation is not importing, it is translating. Bringing what is happening elsewhere first and giving it a worthy space here. His thesis is simple and stubborn. A piece is not understood on its own. Behind every object there is music, travel, art, food, an entire scene that sustains the gesture. The person who designs also plays in a band, DJs, cooks, travels. The whole circle matters more than the garment. From there comes his distance from the noise. HEADQUARTER bets on those who choose because they like how it looks, not because someone told them what to buy. And it curates from emotion as a thermometer: if opening a newly arrived box does not stir anything, something is dying inside. Twenty years later, it is still a conversation among those who understand that dressing differently is, in the end, a way of thinking differently.
