why Jardín Perpetuo

Jardín Perpetuo is a multiformat audiovisual project by Edgar Mondragón (music) and Erik López / IMGN (visuals) that proposes a pause in the face of the acceleration of the digital world. It functions as a parent project from which different iterations emerge, all united by the same language: extended sound structures (drone) and continuously transforming images, where repetition, minimal variation, and duration displace narrative to open a contemplative experience. The EP is one of those iterations: three pieces named after the moments that define the project —Saturation, Contemplation, and Liberation— and that condense its sonic language. Sona is the first space to receive this material, performed live before its release and in an exclusively sonic format. The pieces will be built from ambient drones woven with layers and electronic textures, processed with pink noise that evokes natural sounds —the wind, the waves— and sustains the same state throughout the listening experience. A space for contemplation that interrupts digital saturation and returns time to deep listening.

Edgar Mondragón is an electronic music producer with more than 30 releases and 2 film soundtracks. He is considered "one of the brightest lights of Mexican electronic avant-garde" according to the digital media outlet REMEZCLA. IMGN is the VJ project of visual artist Erik López, whose work experiments with photography, video, and Artificial Intelligence to create landscapes that address themes related to contemplation of the digital world. Together, they have developed an audiovisual symbiosis that has been presented in prominent cultural venues, such as the CCE, the CCD, the LAA, and the IIC-UABC. They have also participated in renowned international music festivals, including MUTEK México+Japón 2020, MUTEK Montreal 2021, MUTEK México 2024, Pitchfork, SXSW, NRMAL, and Hipnosis, and brought their creativity to a special collaboration with the iconic brand Adidas in 2025.
