why Obsidian – Jonsi
Obsidian was born from the eruption of the Fagradalsfjall volcano in Iceland, which had been dormant for almost eight hundred years. Jónsi recorded the album alongside an art exhibition of the same name in New York, where the music played alongside scents of amber, ozone, and birch, designed to be heard with all the senses at once, not just with the ears. It is his album most reminiscent of Sigur Rós outside the band, made at a time when he could not return home and found a way to express longing for it in sound. The last two tracks, "Vetiverol" and "Hedione," add up to almost twenty minutes without a single word, only layer upon layer of texture — the part most often skipped in streaming and the one we are going to keep intact here. The album lasts a little over an hour and we are going to listen to it all the way through, in order, without distractions.

can i cancel my ticket?+
yes. cancel any booking through this website. you'll get credits for the seats you paid for if you cancel at least 24 hours before the session (12 hours if you have an active Sona Members or All Access subscription). inside that window the booking can still be cancelled, but no credits are issued and there are no cash refunds. credits work on any future session.
is there a dress code?+
no, but we recommend wearing something comfortable for sitting on the floor. because the room is very quiet, we recommend soft fabrics. try to avoid "noisy" synthetic materials like nylon or windbreakers, as the sound of moving in them can be distracting to others. also, we leave our shoes at the door, so we recommend wearing warm socks.
what if i can't sit on the floor?+
if you need a chair for medical or physical reasons, please let us know when you arrive.
can i buy a drink?+
yes, we serve a curated selection of non-alcoholic drinks and light snacks, but all refreshments must be finished before you enter the soundroom.
