Archivo MUTEK MX

Archivo MUTEK is a listening session dedicated to the concerts that have defined the history of MUTEK MX. Complete performances, listened to from beginning to end, in the space and with the attention they deserve. A curation that spans more than two decades of digital creativity and electronic music in Mexico City, in collaboration with MUTEK MX.

Stereo

High-quality audio files directly from the console: raw recordings, just as they sounded in the venue on the night of the concert. We play them through the OJAS stereo system, amplified by tubes, a system designed to restore realism and detail to the sound.

why Pantha du Prince & The Bell Laboratory desde el Auditorio Blackberry (grabado el 29 de octubre, 2014)

On October 29, 2014, Pantha du Prince and The Bell Laboratory closed the MUTEK MX festival at the Auditorio Blackberry in Mexico City. It was the end of the tour and, as was later learned, the project's final concert. That night they performed, played an encore, and when it ended, the audience did not move — so they went back and played the entire piece again from the beginning. The Bell Laboratory was born from a question Hendrik Weber (Pantha du Prince) asked himself after years of building music alone with his computer: what happens when you compose for other human beings? The answer was an ensemble of Norwegian percussionists and a three-ton carillon with 50 bronze bells. Live, the music oscillates between rounds of organic percussion and the moment when Pantha drops the kick and everything transforms. Much of what you hear was left to the musicians' intuition in the moment. In collaboration with MUTEK MX, we listened to that full recording — the final concert — in silence and without distractions.

curated by MUTEK MX

MUTEK MX is the international platform for digital creativity and electronic music that has accompanied, nurtured, and expanded the experimental scene in Mexico City since 2003. More than a festival, MUTEK MX functions as an active node within the city's cultural ecosystem: a meeting point where musicians, visual artists, designers, programmers, and audiences come together to imagine new relationships between sound, technology, and shared experience.

FAQ

can i cancel my ticket?+

yes. cancel any booking through this website. you'll get credits for the seats you paid for if you cancel at least 24 hours before the session (12 hours if you have an active Sona Members or All Access subscription). inside that window the booking can still be cancelled, but no credits are issued and there are no cash refunds. credits work on any future session.

is there a dress code?+

no, but we recommend wearing something comfortable for sitting on the floor. because the room is very quiet, we recommend soft fabrics. try to avoid "noisy" synthetic materials like nylon or windbreakers, as the sound of moving in them can be distracting to others. also, we leave our shoes at the door, so we recommend wearing warm socks.

what if i can't sit on the floor?+

if you need a chair for medical or physical reasons, please let us know when you arrive.

can i buy a drink?+

yes, we serve a curated selection of non-alcoholic drinks and light snacks, but all refreshments must be finished before you enter the soundroom.
