why Surrender - Rufus du Sol
Surrender began to be written in a rented house in Joshua Tree, on a trip that was supposed to last two weeks and ended up lasting eight because Los Angeles shut down because of the pandemic. RÜFÜS DU SOL had spent ten years on tour almost nonstop, and they arrived there with built-up resentment among themselves; before touching an instrument, they would sit down to meditate together and exercise, every day, for weeks. The album opens with "Next to Me", just one repeated piano chord in an empty room — nothing like the image of a band that fills stadiums with lights and booming bass. It is also the first album they mixed in Dolby Atmos, designed to be heard surrounded by sound and not just facing a pair of speakers. It lasts about fifty-three minutes, and we are going to listen to it in full, in order, with the sound system designed exactly for this.

FAQ
can i cancel my ticket?+
yes. cancel any booking through this website. you'll get credits for the seats you paid for if you cancel at least 24 hours before the session (12 hours if you have an active Sona Members or All Access subscription). inside that window the booking can still be cancelled, but no credits are issued and there are no cash refunds. credits work on any future session.
is there a dress code?+
no, but we recommend wearing something comfortable for sitting on the floor. because the room is very quiet, we recommend soft fabrics. try to avoid "noisy" synthetic materials like nylon or windbreakers, as the sound of moving in them can be distracting to others. also, we leave our shoes at the door, so we recommend wearing warm socks.
what if i can't sit on the floor?+
if you need a chair for medical or physical reasons, please let us know when you arrive.
can i buy a drink?+
yes, we serve a curated selection of non-alcoholic drinks and light snacks, but all refreshments must be finished before you enter the soundroom.
