The Secret Symphony of Plants – Brent Chancellor, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, John Kaefer, Marcus Foster, Ricardo Romaneiro,

Start your day with clarity. This session features instrumental soundscapes designed to awaken the senses without words. It is an introspective yet energizing space to clear the mind and begin with inspiration.

We play digital audio of the highest quality through our analog system: tube amplifiers and OJAS KO-R1 speakers. Designed by Devon Turnbull, the KO-R1 creates hyper-realistic and detailed, warm and natural soundscapes.

They generate absolute presence in the sound.

In our space designed for deep listening, you will discover hidden details, textures, and movements impossible to feel in headphones.

The Secret Symphony of Plants is an invitation to listen to what we almost never pay attention to: the hidden music of the natural world. Created by ONNA for Artpark's new music program, this project brings together five composers —Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Ricardo Romaneiro, John Kaefer, Marcus Foster, and Brent Chancellor— in a sonic exploration based on the living rhythms of plants.

Using electrodes, the ONNA team captured the bioelectric signals of moss, veronica, black cherry, wild leeks, and buckthorn on the grounds of Artpark in western New York. These signals —subtle changes in conductivity as the plants responded to light, temperature, and touch— were translated into MIDI data, revealing each plant's unique internal rhythm. This raw musical language was handed to the composers, who used it as a starting point to create new pieces.

These works were performed by the LUX chamber orchestra, under the direction of Brent Chancellor, and recorded live at Artpark. What you are listening to is the result: an album that brings together science, human collaboration, and the silent intelligence of nature.

We select albums for their cultural relevance, emotional depth, rich textures, and technical detail—to ensure they sound their absolute best in our space.

no phones: anything that produces sound must be stored in our secure lockers.

no talk: we keep the soundroom silent so everyone can focus on the music.

no late entry: once the soundroom doors close (20 minutes after the booking time), we cannot let anyone in.
